Today Chief Minster odisha Sri Mohan Charan Majhi said in conference that during cyclone Strom 2200 baby born and 18 twins. Under ‘Mission Zero Casualty’ of the Odisha government, priority was given to children, elderly persons and pregnant women. About 6,000 pregnant women were safely evacuated and admitted to different medical centres and hospitals ahead of the landfall of the cyclone. The delivery was conducted smoothly and both mother and baby are fully safe and healthy. All kinds of treatment facilities were provided in the hospital,” said Dr Upasana Biswal from Talachuan Primary Health Center. “The newborn babies during the cyclone will be the future architect of new Odisha,” said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.
Cyclone Dana recently made landfall along the Odisha coast in India during the early hours of October 25, 2024, between Bhitarkanika and Dhamara, bringing severe weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had categorized Dana as a "severe cyclonic storm," with wind speeds reaching up to 120 km/h. Its impact has led to widespread disruptions, including over 300 train cancellations and multiple flight delays across affected regions, especially in Odisha and West Bengal. To prepare, authorities evacuated large numbers of residents and issued flash flood warnings across vulnerable areas. Emergency services remain on high alert as the storm continues to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds that could affect infrastructure and crop production in these coastal states.
