APJ Abdul Kalam
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, also known as the "Missile Man of India," was a renowned Indian scientist and the 11th President of India, serving from 2002 to 2007. Born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, he rose from humble beginnings to become one of India’s most beloved and respected public figures.
Dr. Kalam played a significant role in India's defense and space programs, notably in the development of ballistic missile and satellite launch vehicle technology. He was a key figure in India's nuclear tests at Pokhran in 1998, which established India as a nuclear power.
Apart from his scientific achievements, Dr. Kalam was an inspirational figure, particularly for young people. He was a strong advocate for education, dreaming of a developed India and encouraging students to dream big and work hard. His books, like Wings of Fire and Ignited Minds, continue to inspire millions.
Dr. Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong. His legacy as a visionary scientist, a humble leader, and an inspiration for generations remains cherished in India and beyond.
